Fifty (Forty) Decklists for Zendikar Rising, Part Two

Image
Here comes decklists 26-40, with a lot more Uro! I was going to hit 50 but wasn't very well the past few days so went for 40 instead. I'll put the ten ideas I haven't put time into at the bottom! 26. Sultai Landfall - https://scryfall.com/@Teskeract/decks/d166f9aa-423d-444f-b857-2614a3208471 Uro is obviously going to be one of the major stressors on the upcoming Standard format. Nissa of Shadowed Boughs is a quite strong card (though I need more convincing that it's a key card in the new standard). Together with other interaction and threats (along with a nice helping of spell lands for consistency) they support a reasonable midrange pile like this one. Though I don't think this will be even close to as dominant as Sultai Midrange was in the final weeks of Core Set 2021 Standard, I think this is worth more than just a passing look, despite the far-from-incomplete mana base. 27. Sultai Kicker - https://scryfall.com/@Teskeract/decks/fc82af81-5f1f-46f5-a22c-628950b908...

Fifty Decklists for Zendikar Rising

I have built fifty decks based heavily on the new cards from Zendikar Rising! Instead of a cacophonous and unpleasant preamble, I'll just ask you to please follow me on Twitter @Teskeract, share with whoever you please, and enjoy my creations! Let's get to it! Standard 1. Dimir Rogues - https://scryfall.com/@Teskeract/decks/bbce9f82-559e-497d-b613-c6fef8000b75 Simple and effective, Rogues are the party-member I am most excited about on their own. Soaring Thought-Thief is a hell of a payoff for running a bunch of rogues, and every creature in the deck has flash, making Slitherwisp pretty ridiculous. In fact, Bloodchief's Thirst is the only nonland spell that you can only cast at sorcery speed; but I think it's going to be a necessity in a format with so many good one and two-mana creatures. Drown in the Loch is going to shine more than it ever has with so many enablers, and is one of the few multiple-mode cards staying in standard that I don't think is just outclas...

Zendikar Rising: Welcome to the Future of Magic

Image
A New Era of Deckbuilding  So it's the usual - goodbye to four sets, hello to a new one! I haven't been this excited for a magic set in a long time - Zendikar Rising looks great. And that's not all; it looks like a stark shift in magic design philosophy that will rethink how we build decks and more. A large part of this is due to the new "modal double-faced cards". Lands that do something are often popular competitive game pieces - in fact, every constructed format I can think of since I started playing 7 years ago has had multiple - but until now we haven't had lands that are literally also spells before.  The London Mulligan increased consistency of various strategies in a way that created less "non-games"; Companion gave many decks a guaranteed extra card; and though the power level of these new lands is not that of pre-nerf companion, the effect on consistency is similar to those two examples. However, this consistency increase has one similar...
